Circus Skills!

Year 1 have had a fantastic day learning lots of new fun and exciting skills.  The day started with an assembly from Juggling Jake.  He showed lots of different tricks and skills and even gave away a few tips.  All the children were very impressed and wearing big smiles by the time the assembly had finished.

Year 1 then had the opportunity to learn some circus skills themselves.  We started with learning how to juggle.  We began with one scarf, throwing it from hand to hand.  We then had to throw it high in the air and try to clap before catching it again.  When we were pretty confident with one scarf we got to try the same things with two scarves! One activity was called 'the shower' and was quite tricky!

We then had the chance to use the diabolos! The skill was to keep one hand still and move the other hand.

We then got to explore the rest of the equipment that Juggling Jake had brought with him.  Lots of us were very brave and walked along the tightrope and tried sitting on the unicycle.

The stilts were very popular with some children showing great perseverance and by the end of the day they could actually walk on them!

The small bikes were much harder to ride than we first thought!

We then had chance to explore everything else....

 Especially the clown costumes!

A big thank you to Juggling Jake for a fantastic day of new skills and to all the parents who came to watch our great performance!
