Potions Class!

Welcome to Potions Class!

Recently, lots of our maths has been linked to the wizarding world of Harry Potter! Today, we enjoyed a potions class where we had to measure different amounts.

We had to read the scales carefully to work out how many millilitres of potion there was in each container.

Chance to Shine!

Last week, Years 1, 2 and 3 were treated to a visit from one of the Ageas Bowl cricket coaches! As part of their 'Chance to Shine' scheme, which aims to encourage more children to play cricket, we took part in a range of batting, bowling and catching activities. It was great fun! If you would like to get involved in playing cricket, then Hedge End cricket club is our local team - http://hedgeendjunior.play-cricket.com/

Key Stage 2 Wellbeing Afternoon

Wellbeing Afternoon

On Thursday 8th February, Key Stage 2 have enjoyed a selection of activities to support our own wellbeing.

The teachers prepared different tasks for us to explore and learn about.  These included: sudoku, colouring, outdoor learning and yoga.

These calming techniques can then be used at home to support mental health.  Some teachers also used calming music to help with breathing techniques.

"I've enjoyed the colouring sessions and would do this at home" - Louis

"I found the colouring relaxing" - Tom

"I liked sudoku because it was relaxing" - Oscar

"It was fun to explore outdoors" - Cayla

Sporting Fixtures

Sporting News

Tuesday 6th February saw us play our first games of the season. A whole new football and netball team headed to Botley to play two matches. Both teams played exceptionally well and represented the school excellently.

Football:
Jayden, Archie, Rio, Rory, Joe and Josh

3-0 to Botley
4-1 to Berrywood
Our boys did a great job and all spectators agreed that it was an unfortunate score with Botley as we deserved to win.

Netball:
Izzy, Natasha, Layla, Olivia, Freya, Izzy and Charlotte

5-4 to Botley
6-0 to Berrywood
Our girls played an incredible first two matches and worked really hard on our defense. Some excellent blocks were in place and some nifty footwork too!

Well done to both teams.
Your sportsmanship did us all proud.

Please remember our next fixtures are at home.
It would be great to see you there supporting our teams and cheering us on.

 20th February - St James
27th February - Freegrounds and Shamblehurst

Making Rainbows

Rainbows

Continuing with our Light topic in Year 5, we have been exploring refraction.

Using torches and prisms, we made rainbows.
Can you spot them in our photographs?

Ask us all about it!
